Part A Let’s learn & Do a survey

I.                   Teaching objectives

1.Knowledge objectives

(1)     Ss can listen, speak, read and write these words and phrases correctly, dance, sing, song, sing English songs, play the pipa, do kung fu, draw cartoons.

(2)     Ss can listen, speak and read these sentence patterns smoothly, “What can you do?  I can…”

2. Ability objectives

(1) Ss can ask and express freely with the sentence patterns “What can you do?  I can …”

(2) Ss can use them appropriately.

3. Emotion objectives

(1)Ss will know what they can do and be confident

(2)Ss are willing to communicate with others in English.

II. The key and difficult points

1.     The key points

(1)   Words and phrases: sing, song, sing English songs, play the pipa, do kung fu, dance, draw cartoons.

(2)    Sentence patterns: “What can you do?  I can…”

2.     The difficult point

 Ss can communicate with others freely with “What can you do? I can…”

     Step 1. Warming up

1.     Greeting ( free talk)

2.     chant

3.     review the song “what can you do?”

Step 2. Presentation

1.     Pre-task

On the weekend, we will have a birthday party, so what can you do for the party? Can you sing? Can you dance? We will do a survey. Fill the form on P 39

2.     Language focus

Before doing the survey, we will learn some new phrases.

(1)   show one picture of dance

a.     Ss have a try, say it out loud

b.     Ss read after teacher while teacher is writing on the board, and then do the action.

c.     Ss touch it and say it loud

d.     Read after little teachers.

e.     Ask “what can you do? I can…” and show it on PPT. Help Ss answer with “I can dance.”

a.     “Who can dance?”

Use the similar way to learn sing English songs, play the pipa, do kung fu and draw cartoons.

(2) Practice

a. Game 1: point, touch and say

Teacher will say a phrase, Ss point, touch and say it loud.

Invite some Ss to be the commanders.

  Group B and C watch group A whether they point or say it right or not.

 Teacher will give them mark

b. Game 2: I say you show.

Teacher will say a phrase, Ss show the word card and say “what can you do?  I can…”

Invite some Ss to be the commanders.

 Group B and C watch group A whether they show it right or not.

 Teacher will give them mark.

Step 3. Task-cycle

1.     Task.  Do a survey , ask your group members what they can do for the birthday party and fill in the form on P 39.

1.     Planning.

 Ss discuss in group and do the survey.

 Teacher will check among groups while they are discussing.

2.     Report.

Group leaders come to the stage to report for the class.

Teacher will give them mark.

3.     summary in one proverb

Practice makes perfect.

Step 4. Homework

 1. Copy these five phrases

     (1) dance    

     (2) sing English songs

     (3) play the pipa

     (4) do kung fu

     (5) draw cartoons

2.   Ask your friends “What can you do ?”

      Tell your friends “I can …”

教学反思:

    本节课是义务教育PEP小学英语五年级上册教材第四单元第二课时的内容,围绕话题what can you do? I can... 我运用任务型教学模式及全身反应法并且结合多媒体教学,学生小组探讨调查学习,将较单一的教学转换成让学生在完成任务的过程中学习新知识,课堂总体情况良好。在教学环节practice中的game2中 学生说、唱、演、跳、画,手、眼、脑甚至全身相结合。学生在轻松欢快的语言环境中学习、巩固新知识并表现着自己,教师教学效果及学生的学习效果良好。但在do a survey的环节中由于指示语未被学生所理解透彻导致在调查过程中出现小插曲,最后顺利解决。
